Recent Advances of Sulfonylation Reactions in Water

Abstract:


Sulfones, which could be applied as agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, are also useful intermediates in organic synthesis. Many protocols have been developed to synthesize organic sulfones. According to the green and sustainable point of view, sulfonylation reactions using water as solvent have got more and more attention. In this review, the recent advance of sulfonylation reactions proceeding in water was highlighted. Based on different sulfonating agents such as sodium sulfinates, sulfonyl hydrazides, sulfinic acids, and sulfonyl chlorides used, different kinds sulfonylation reactions in water would be classified and introduced in detail. And the proposed reaction mechanism would be presented if available.
